Sleeman vs Stella Artois on Instagram

This social media platform that will be talked about in this discussion is different from others because it requires using effective images and videos more than creating written content like they did on Facebook and Twitter.

When looking at these two historic brands, both brands are still on the same boat and have the ability to post content but unfortunately they lack the capability to keep their content on a consistent basis by only posting content once or twice a week. The type of content that each brand posts is mostly promotional post about their beer products like Sleeman has done for the dark chocolate beer and introducing a bundle beer case that include all type of Sleeman beer. Sleeman also uses warm colours and good quality photos that attract multiple senses of the consumer and almost makes them feel thirsty for a beer…or is that just me? Stella on the other hand does pretty much uses similar strategies and produces the same type of content that incorporate a lot of good quality images but are mostly posted to promote a product or an event that Stella Artois is a part of or promoting one the their biggest promotional ideas which is the #BuyALadyADrink chalice.

Stella Artois Instagram post for #BuyALadyADrink campaign.
Now, let’s talk about the description features each brand uses. Sleeman Brewery uses a couple of features which include posting links that go to their company website or if there are holding events they will post links to the event page on Facebook or event page on their website. Sleeman also uses certain keywords but still lack the effectiveness of incorporating good keywords. Some keywords include; “Notoriously Good Beer” and “Local Canadian Beer”. Stella Artois does almost the same type of work as Sleeman does but still get more traffic because of the brand image they’ve already established in the beer market. Some features that they use are links to other sites and using some keywords or hashtags like #BuyALadyADrink or #GiveBeautifully.
Stella Artois Christmas Holiday Gift Promotion.

Sleeman Gentlemens Expo Promotion

When quickly comparing at both of best Instagram posts that they’ve created to the public, you can see that Stella Artois receives a lot more activity then Sleeman because of their brand image and Sleeman being a local brand and only being known in Ontario and Stella Artois being known globally. In the images above you’ll see that the best post Stella Artois created was a post about their holiday promotions and celebrating their long history of the brand. This post received 2,763 likes and 143 comments while Sleemans post received 93 likes and 2 comments, which was a post about the gentlemen expo event that Sleeman was sponsoring. Overall I believe that both of these post were successful because not only were the able to get good results but looking at the post itself, you can see that the visual aid looks professional and informative for viewers to see and get glued into the created content.

Have your say and let us know who you think should win the best Instagram account! Cheers!

Coors Light vs. Guinness on Instagram

For this blog I’ll be talking about Coors Light Canada's Instagram page as it has better and more current content than the American page. So lately, Coors light has been posting much more frequently than usual. Typically Coors Light will post once per week or sometimes once every couple of weeks, but when they have an event it seems they post multiple posts on the same day.

Two such events have taken place recently,
 their #Thrillofthehill tobogganing event @Mont Saint-Sauveur

and their Mattress #dunkcontest @Musik Nightclub.

The Guinness US Instagram page is much better then both the Guinness Canadian and Guinness GB sites because it updates its content every day!

Guinness posts a variety of different content from St. Patrick’s Day count down posts

to the science behind the bubbles in a Guinness Nitro.

In the description on many of the most recent posts that are event related, the name of the venue is displayed as a link as well as the hashtags #thrillofthehill and the venue #montsaintsauveur in Quebec. These lead you to their Instagram pages.
Some funny hashtags used by Guinness are #guinnesstache and #beerstagram.

The same is true of the Musik Nightclub link displayed at the top of the #dunkcontest posts. #musiknightclub will also lead you to their Instagram page.

This Superb Owl Post evoked 192 likes as well as comments from 11 different people not including Coors Light’s responses.

I think this post was so successful because it is about the Super Bowl which is one of the biggest sporting events of the year and has a huge following in North America. It also features a corny play on words, and, it’s cute! So many things to love about this creative post from Coors Light.

 Guinness Toucan

This Guinness can post featuring a historic advertisement, the Guinness Toucan, making a come back for this special addition can raked in 1,688 likes and 90 comments. I feel this post was so successful because Guinness fans pride themselves on things like history and integrity even more than their desire to have fun. Having a special addition throwback can will remind their followers of where they came from and what they’re made of.

What Makes Social Media One of the Biggest Marketing Strategies for Beer Brands?

In the business world, many companies are now heavily relying on social media and how it has impacted their business. One of the brands that will be talked about in this blog is Sleeman Brewery and the digital marketing strategies they use for their newest product called the “Dark Chocolate Lager”.
Sleeman Brewery's New Dark Chocolate Lager! The perfect beer for the winter.
Here are the social media platforms that there apart of:

When talking an in-depth look at Sleeman’s performance on social media, you could agree that their most effective social media platform is Facebook and Twitter due to the number of followers they have as well. Sleeman posts pretty frequently but still struggle to post every day. The types of content that they produce to their audience is visual content promoting their “Dark Chocolate Lager” as a perfect beverage for the winter. The purpose of their content is engage with their audience to help them improve as a brand as well as promote their products to increase brand awareness and excel in targeting multiple target markets.

Based on the findings, I believe that Sleeman has to potential to grow their market. They are a local brand that produces good quality beer but lack on creating a huge following on social media. If Sleeman considers to post on a daily basis and get involved not only locally but around Canada, I feel that they will increase their following and open more job opportunities for people to manage their social media interaction with their consumers.
Leave any comments on what you guys think is the best strategy for Sleeman to grow their social media presence?

Coors Light is a fantastic beer with great presence on the following social media channels:

Coors Light Social (media) Life

Although Coors Light is active on many social media platforms, their Facebook and Twitter accounts see the most action with 3,028,006 likes on Facebook and 106,000 followers on Twitter.

They post on Facebook every couple of days. When someone comments on their posts, Coors Light responds within hours. Their responses are humorous and laid back, much like their brand image.

When a follower posts on Twitter with a problem, Coors Light responds quickly usually posting their 1-800 number in the comments asking them to call in so they can get to the bottom of the issue.
This shows their great attention to customer service.

Get Inspired

Valentine's Coors

On both Facebook and Twitter Coors Light often posts inspirational photographs utilizing hashtags such as #Championships or #ClimbOn to motivate their followers to reach their personal best.

They target many of their posts to sports lovers and take advantages of celebrations and special days such as Valentine’s Day and Leap Day to remain relevant in their consumers’ day to day lives.

Instagram post roughly once per week while Youtube posts much less frequently with monthly posts or less on average.

50/50

Across all platforms I would agree that the 50/50 rule is in effect for Coors Light’s social media teams and they do a wonderful job at keeping current with their tech savvy fan base.

SERP ranking results when using keywords from this table:
When searching for “high quality beer” Sleeman’s home page comes up midway on the second page.
When searching for “high quality beer” Stella Artois’ home page didn’t come up even after going through the first 25 pages.

Summary:
Sleeman strengths are its use of visual content on their webpage and their ability to provide their audience with the right information on every product they have invented. Their able to explain to them the physical characteristics of the beer as well as explanations to taste and comparing taste of other lagers that they possess. Sleeman also does a good job of organizing there information by having alt text tabs so consumers can take a look and solely be focused on what they’re looking for. (Sleeman Canada, 2016)
Stella Artois strengths are its use of social media. Stella does a great job of having social media posts laid out into their home page so people can see the artwork that users use when making a product look great on their social media posts which causes the audience to be engaged to the product more frequently. Stella Artois also does a good job of making people feel prestigious and elegant when purchasing this product because of the colour layout of their website and product image itself, as well as the content they provide of their history and heritage of their brand and product. (Stella Artois, 2016)
When searching for content using the keyword:  “High Quality Beer, Premium Quality Beer and Best Breweries” Sleeman ranked on the second page of Google. When searching for content using the keywords: “High Quality, Premium Quality and Historic Beer”, Stella Artois didn’t possess a rank. The two sites have this in common which is that there both high quality beer brands that are heavy users of social media and have very well organized webpages that successfully target there intended audience. What they also have in common is their lack of incorporating tags into their website, but they are different in that Sleeman provides a lot more information about the beer products, well Stella Artois focuses more on a higher class audience with the elegant social media posts and information on their history and how they position themselves as a traditional beer company. In conclusion, Sleeman looks to be more effective in most areas, well Stella Artois needs to provide more information on their products and improve on their SEO strategies to educate their audience with the right information about their product and help consumer find their brand website more efficiently.

Conclusion:
In the beer industry, Sleeman and Stella Artois are both good beer brands that have many areas of improvement including their SEO keywords that can help their target audience reach their brand a lot easier and quicker. Using keyword sentences throughout their sites like “High Quality Beer” will ultimately help the consumer search for those brands in the right keyword category. Both these brands are considered to have high quality products but if consumers aren’t aware of that then having these keywords will be able to have effective use in solving those problems. In my opinion the overall winner of this SEO Search analysis is Sleeman Brewery. I believe that overall they have a well-structured webpage that provides effective information of beer products that really help the purchasing decision of the consumer. Although they do lack a little on previewing social media posts, their still able to have enough information on their page for consumers to look at as well as directed social media links for consumers to view any reviews or campaign ads that they introduce.
