Sleeman vs Stella Artois on YouTube

This social media platform that will be talked about in this discussion is different from others because it requires using effective images and videos more than creating written content like they did on Facebook and Twitter.

After looking at both YouTube channels from both these brands, it is well agreed that both brands are as effective and efficient as they are on their other social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. When looking at both their channels, you’ll be able to see that Stella Artois has been a part of YouTube longer than Sleeman has and has more of a following but still post like 2-3 times a month while Sleeman’s content performance has been a lot slower from them only posting about 8 times this year! The posting game clearly favours Stella Artois over Sleeman Brewery. When looking into their channel more and analyzing the type of content the post both brands post very common content which include promotion videos, company events, celebrity endorsement videos and interviews with members of the company.

In the description area, Stella Artois shows a high performance result than Sleeman by linking to other sites for their #BuyALadyADrink campaign and other social media platforms for their audience to follow, Stella Artois also uses description to describe the video and the purpose of the video. The one area hat Stella Artois needs to improve on is incorporating keywords and tags into the video to attract more people and increase awareness for the video. Sleeman on the other hand doesn’t use much in the description category, which include not adding tags or keywords or even explaining to the audience the purpose of the video.

When comparing the best videos between the two historic brands, you can see that Stella Artois’ “Host Beautifully” commercial has won with receiving more feedback than Sleeman did with their famous “Sleeman Speakeasy” commercial. Below are videos of both commercials. Stella Artois “Host Beautfifully” received about 6.6 million views, 57 likes and 12 comments while Sleeman’s speakeasy received 400K views, 9 likes and 9 comments.

Have your say and let us know who you think should win the YouTube content game!

Coors Light vs. Guinness on Youtube

Coors Light Canada posts a new video or commercial on Youtube 1-4 times per month. Sometimes it is a similar commercial or video to another one featured in French.

Guinness has posted many videos in the last couple of months, a bunch on the same day. Roughly 6 per week sometimes more.

Coors Light posts commercials about their beer as well as their events. The videos are loud and exciting and fun!

Guinness posts videos about their beer, not so much about events they hold.

One series they posted is called Guinness Brewing Insights. In these videos there are different people who work for Guinness talking about their beer, ingredients, quality and history. Although the commercials are well done, they are much more informative and less entertaining than some other beer brand's videos.

It is evident that the two brands are targeting different demographics when looking at their video styles.

The description area on Youtube for Coors Light can go one of two ways:
Either it has virtually no information or one sentence about what’s in the video,
or it has links to all of its social media pages and the Coors Light official website as well as a short description of the video. They also utilize keywords and hashtags such as #mysterymansion in their description.

The description section for Guinness can be a summary of the information they discuss in the video, or an actual part of the script from the video. They use keywords such a St. Jame’s Gate, lager, beer, Made of More.

Coors light had 365,113 views, 89 likes and 30 comments on this video about what actually goes on inside the Coors Light Mystery Mansion.

I believe this video was so successful because, as the name suggests, it unveils the big secret of what goes on behind the doors of the Mystery Mansion. It’s a great video that shows how fun and awesome winning this experience would be and builds the hype for this contest that runs annually.

Guinness’s most watched video was the Guinness Nitro IPA“The Widget” video which had 804,143 and rightfully so. This video shows the science behind this brand and how they put a ping pong ball with a hole in it, filled with liquid nitrogen, inside each can and the describes the effects of that on each beer. It is really interesting and super high tech. It is surprising that it only has 56 likes, because who doesn’t think that’s awesome? 12 comments were made about this video.

Youtube Battle: Budweiser VS Alexander Keith's

Youtube is another social media platform that is quickly gaining ground.  It’s perfect for placing ads on other videos and commercials/promotional ads on your own page.  So far on my last 3 posts about Facebook, Twitter & Instagram, Budweiser has easily been not only the king of beers, but also social media! Once again, this does not change.  The following chart answers these 3 questions regarding Keith’s and Budweisers’ Youtube accounts:

·         How often does each brand post a new video/commercial?
·         What kind of video content does each brand post (commercials, celebrity spots, how-to’s, news, industry related events, music videos, etc.)
·         In the description area, what kind of content is included (links to other sites, keywords, descriptions, etc.)

Alexander Keith’s

·         Have not made a post in 6 months.  They posted a lot 6-7 months ago. Not active.

·         Most of their posts are about types of foods that you can make that go well with the drink.  A lot of these foods are popular on the east coast, especially Halifax and each video is usually a background story of someone who enjoys the food with the drink and why.

·         Their description of the channel is “Welcome to Alexander Keith’s official channel. Brewed since 1820, Alexander Keith’s brings flavour to life. Please enjoy responsibly.”  Below that is a link to their website and Facebook page.

Budweiser

·         They post as much as they do on any other social media site.  At least 5-6 times a month. Very active.

·         Budweiser makes a lot of posts. Commercial posts, promotional posts, celebrity posts.  The celebrity post is also a commercial which was aired during the superbowl where Hellen Mirren talks about drunk driving.  Their promotional posts are about why Budweiser is the best beer, why you should have it during the playoffs and why you should celebrate St. Patrick’s day drinking it.

·         The description for their channel: “Budweiser is the Great American Lager from Anheuser-Busch. Subscribe to our Youtube channel to keep up with your favorite American lager beer!” Below that is 5 links: Website, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & Pinterest.

What is their most effective/popular video?

Alexander Keith’s

I’m not sure what separates this video apart from the other “UNTAPPED” ones but I guess the type of food they advertised was more popular than others. Other than that, I can’t really see any difference, the length of the videos are all somewhat similar.  They might have advertised this video at the right times.  Check the link for yourself and comment why you think this video has the most views!

Budweiser

What makes this commercial so popular ? Well for one thing it was aired during the superbowl and another, it’s awesome.  Upbeat music that gets the viewer pumped, its cocky and fun and showcases their confidence.  They remind you throughout the video why they are the “King of beers”.  Saying “people who drink Budweiser like beer” or “let them sip their pumpkin spice ale, while we brew some golden suds”.  It’s almost an ad saying that hey you can drink other beers, but REAL beer drinking men & Women are what Budweiser is for. Check out the ad below and see for yourself.  As you can see below it, it’s quite popular!

Guinness: A fun dark beer that’s Made of More on social media

Guinness beer shows their excitement for St Patrick’s Day all over their social media platforms.

Traditionally thought of as the most Irish beer we’ve got here in North America, Guinness and St. Patrick’s Day pretty much go hand in hand.

Guinness takes advantage of this holiday on their Facebook and Twitter pages by building the hype, increasing their brand awareness, and no doubt boosting their sales.

While their Facebook page has an impressive 5,348,427 Likes, their Twitter Guinness US has 9085 Followers, and their Twitter Guinness Canada page only has 2017 Followers.
Their communication with their Facebook community is very active. Many comments are responded to quickly on Facebook, while their Twitter is slightly less frequent, particularly their Canadian Twitter page.

Because Guinness is a globally well-known brand, many of the comments on their posts are in a different language. This is different from the posts on many North American beer brand pages who are not as well-known globally.

Guinness’s YouTube site posts less frequently, which is expected as it takes much longer to develop video content than it does a written post. Many of their commercials highlight their positioning as a company with character. This image is carried across all of their platforms in their style, attitude, and campaign slogan stating that Guinness is a beer that’s Made of More.

Their social media strategy showcases their strong brand image and although they like to have fun, it is clear that they are targeting a more refined and responsible market segment.

Social Media Presence on Beer Brands: Stella Artois

In the business world, many companies are now heavily relying on social media and how it has impacted their business. One of the brands that will be talked about in this blog is Stella Artois and the digital marketing strategies they use for their brewery products.
Here are the social media platforms that there apart of:

When talking an in-depth look at Stella Artois performance on social media, you could agree that their most effective social media platform is Facebook due to the number of followers they have which is currently at 7.7 million likes on their page. Stella Artois posts pretty frequently but still struggle to post on a daily basis. The types of content that they produce to their audience is visual content promoting their “Buy A Lady A Drink” campaign as well as the “Give Beautifully” holiday campaign to promote brand awareness and awareness for the charities their involved with. The purpose of their content is to engage with their audience by using hash tags in their content as well as promoting their beer and having their audience become invested into purchasing their well-known Stella Artois chalice to help save women in need for clean water.

Based on the findings, I believe that Stella Artois has established themselves as a well-known brand in the global community. Although I do feel as though they have the potential to grow their social media presence by using effective social media strategies such as posting on a daily basis and creating effective promotional strategies to get people talking on social media. An example could be by involving Stella Artois’ “By A Lady A Drink” campaign and making it grow in the social media world and allow everybody to get involved. I feel as though the issue with this campaign is that not many people are aware of the campaign. An example that I believe Stella Artois should shadow off of is a company like Bell Canada, who uses the #BellLetsTalk to spread awareness for mental health and every tweet that is used with that hashtag will do directly to a mental health charity. I feel that by Stella Artois executing these strategies, they will increase their following and open more job opportunities for people to manage their social media interaction with their consumers.
